The Line
Overview
The Line is a game concept that looks at shapes in an allegorical way. In The Line, players play a line that has been dropped into a blank and seemingly meaningless world, dubbed The Canvas. It is here that the player will meet various other shapes and explore the meaning of his existance.
Synopsis
The Line begins with the player moving forward, exploring the wide open world. It is very soon after that the player meets the first character, the Square, who thinks that his purpose is to wait for a great being called "The Creator" to tell him what his purpose is. The player can have different conversations with this square and can even promise to help the Square find others to be with. In another conversation, it is hinted that "The Creator" may not have the best of plans in mind for "The Canva".
The player then meets a triangle who thinks his only purpose in life is to be stepped on by others. The player can then ignore what the triangle says and step over him or converse with him. If the player converses with him, the player can tell him about the Square and his problems, or talk to the triangle about his feeling of inadequacy.
The player then finds a circle, who's rolling around. When the player converses with the circle, the circle is very happy and upbeat. After talking with the circle some more, it is revealed that the circle is, like the square said, very arrogant about his ability to move. It is from here that the player can convince the square to help the squares and triangle to unite, or try and talk the circle out of his arrogance.
In either case, it is for naught. For as the player begins to move, a giant pencil descends from the sky and begins erasing the world. The circle is the first to be erased and then the pencil begins to erase other shapes within the world. The pencil then persues the player and as the player tries to run away, the line is slowly erased. When the entire page is blank, with no shapes left, the pencil begins to draw again.
